Zhu Hai 1000 kilometres
(18th April 2004)

We came second - on the same lap as the leader - after eight hours of racing. I was driving a Lotus Elise owned by Tom Cham, from Hong Kong.
The driving was shared with Tom and his two friends Edgar and Douglas. The car had been prepared by Alan Betts, formerly with Lotus Asia-Pacific in Malaysia and now based in Thailand.
The Elise ran faultlessly throughout the race apart from an annoying fuel
surge problem caused by an after-market lightweight tank. Tom will no
doubt be throwing the tank away and replacing it with a better item since
it certainly cost us victory... It was a hot and sunny day and the eight hours passed quickly. It seemed that all the competitors (three or four drivers in each of the 17 cars) had fun and the Zhu Hai circuit management were pleased with the event. |
