Trofeo Vodafone Maserati
Nurburgring, Germany
(4th September 2005)

Following last year's guest appearance in the Trofeo Vodafone Maserati at the British Grand Prix I was again invited to race in the series - this time together with Chinese hotshot Tung Ho-pin, in the race supporting the Nurburgring 1000kms.

This time the car was entered by Auto Italia - the Maserati importer for Hong Kong and Macau - and carried the bauhinia flag on its roof.

After being fifth fastest in free practice we were disappointed to qualify only 11th. Ho-pin drove the first part of the race and did a splendid job lifting the car up to sixth place before the mandatory pit-stop.

Sadly we went backwards thereafter and eventually finished ninth on the road - before a penalty (my fault, not Ho-pin's) dropped us down a few more places.

Despite the lack of trophies the race was a success. It was a good opportunity to drive together with Ho-pin who I hope will join the Hong Kong Le Mans team in the future. We represented Hong Kong and China and grew the relationship with Maserati.
