Matthew Marsh began racing in 1987 in Formula Ford championships in the UK. Having moved to Hong Kong in 1990 he started racing again in 1997, this time commuting to England for the competitve Caterham racing series.

Third in class in the Nurburgring 24-hours and a strong performance at the Spa 24-hours in 2000 prefaced class victory in the inaugural Bathurst 24-hours in 2002. In 2004 Matthew became Porsche Infineon Carrera Cup Asia champion. He also took victory in the Maserati Trofeo race at the British Grand Prix.
